Reminder:

The conference will take place on 21, 22 and 23 May 2026 in Mulhouse. The first day will be held on Illberg Campus, in the FLSH building. The second day will take place at the Société Industrielle de Mulhouse (Place de la Bourse). The third day will take place in the Wesserling Park (transportation by bus will be provided).

Practical information:

  1. How to get to Mulhouse
  2. Getting around Mulhouse
  3. How to go to the university
  4. Accomodation

     1. How to get to Mulhouse:

a) From the airport:
The combination of bus and train is the usual way to reach Mulhouse by public transport. It is the most common and reliable option. From the airport, take Bus Line 11 (Distribus) at the French sector arrivals stop. The bus goes directly to Saint-Louis SNCF train station (approximately 10–15 minutes). From Saint-Louis train station, take a TER regional train to Mulhouse Ville station. Trains run frequently (approximately every 30 minutes), and the total journey takes about 40–50 minutes.
It is also possible to take a direct bus (for example FlixBus) from the airport to Mulhouse city centre, but services are less frequent and tickets should be booked in advance.
Another alternative may be to take a taxi or rent a car.

b) From Paris to Mulhouse:
The easiest and fastest way to travel from Paris to Mulhouse is by train. High-speed TGV trains run regularly from Paris Gare de Lyon to Mulhouse Ville. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the service. Trains run frequently throughout the day. It is recommended to book tickets in advance via the SNCF website in order to obtain better fares.

c) From the train station:
Mulhouse is well connected by train, with services arriving from many cities across France. The main station is Mulhouse Gare Centrale. Once at the station, most destinations in the city are easily accessible. Tram and bus stops are located directly outside the station and provide convenient connections throughout Mulhouse. The hotel is nearby, and taxis are also available.

    2. Getting around Mulhouse:

a) Tramway:
There are several tram lines in Mulhouse. The most useful lines for travelling between the hotel and the university are Lines 2 and 3. Line 1 (direction Châtaignier) can also be useful for travelling from the hotel to the city centre, for example. All tram stops are clearly displayed on the information boards available at each stop. Maps of all tram and bus lines are available at the SOLEA agency, which is located in the city centre.

b) Bus:
Mulhouse has many bus lines, and it is important to pay attention in order to avoid taking the wrong one. The bus lines serving the university include Line 13, which stops just below the campus. Line 14 also serves the campus, with a stop located above it, which may be less easy to find for those unfamiliar with the area. However, these bus lines do not serve the city centre. It is therefore recommended to use the tram whenever possible or to use Google Maps in case of doubt.

c) Prices:
A 1-hour travel ticket costs €1.60. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machines located at tram stops or by sending the text message “solea” to 93068. A reply message will be sent immediately and serves as a valid transport ticket. Only people with a compatible French mobile plan can pay for the Soléa tram by SMS as it usually does not work with foreign phone plans. A 24-hour ticket is also available for €4.60 and may be more convenient if you plan to use public transport several times during the day. Finally, a booklet of 10 tickets is available for €15. The 24-hour ticket and the booklet of 10 tickets can only be purchased from ticket machines or at the SOLEA agency in the city centre.

Tickets must be validated inside the tram using the small yellow machines located on board. Several validation machines are available inside each tram. Public transport is generally reliable and easy to use, and most destinations in Mulhouse can be reached by tram!

    3. How to go to the university

a) Where is the university:
The university is not located in the city centre of Mulhouse, but it is easily accessible by tram or bus. The address is 2 rue des Frères Lumière, and the institution is called Université de Haute-Alsace. As the university has two main sites in Mulhouse, it is important to specify that the conference will take place on the Illberg campus, in order to avoid confusion. The campus includes several buildings. The conference will take place in the FLSH building, which is building “H” on the campus map. It is clearly signposted and relatively easy to find once on campus.

FLSH, UHA.

b) From the train station:
From Mulhouse Gare Centrale, the easiest way to reach the university is by tram. Take tram line 3 (direction Thann Gare or Lutterbach Gare). Get off at the stop “Mairie” (three stops after Gare Centrale: République, Porte Jeune, then Mairie). Once off the tram, stay at the same stop and take tram line 2 (direction Coteaux). Ride the tram until the stop “Illberg” (six stops). After getting off, take the stairs on the left. Continue straight ahead, then turn right. From there, walk straight ahead until you reach building H (FLSH), as indicated on the campus map. (The map is available below).

c) From the hotel:
From the hotel, the route is the same. Simply walk for approximately four minutes from the hotel to the tram stop located in front of the train station, and then follow the directions given above.

    4. Accommodation:

The hotel recommended for the conference is the Mercure Hotel Mulhouse Centre. The hotel is well served by public transport and is conveniently located near the train station and the city centre of Mulhouse. Address: 4 place du Général de Gaulle, 68100 Mulhouse

The hotel offers a fitness area and a spa, as well as a restaurant and a bar. It is located approximately a four-minute walk from the train station. From the hotel, participants can take the tram at the “Mulhouse Gare Centrale” stop, located in front of the train station. From there, it is easy to reach both the city centre and the university. The tram lines serving this stop are Line 1 (Châtaignier) and Line 3 (Lutterbach Gare / Thann Gare). It is also possible to take the bus from this station.
